How to Apply for Funds from One Fund El Paso

You may apply beginning October 10, 2019. Deadline for applying is November 8, 2019. The sooner you apply, the better. The application will be available at nationalcompassionfund.org.

Get started by registering at nationalcompassionfund.org

Don’t forget to check the box next to "I am not a robot"

Those who register must be (1) a family member of a victim who was killed in the shooting, (2) physically wounded in the shooting and hospitalized or treated on an outpatient basis, or (3) was present in the Cielo Vista Walmart, Cielo Vista Sam’s Club or their respective parking lots when the August 3 shooting occurred.

Once registered, check your email for updates from onefundelpaso@nationalcompassionfund.org

Gather your documents, including:

  • Medical records

  • Screen shots of text messages, or calls from the date of the shooting

  • Photos with dates and times from the date of the shooting

  • Will of any victim who was killed

  • Any evidence that will show you were at the shootingIf your family member was killed in the shooting, you will need a will, or a marriage certificate if you were married to the deceased victim (unless the will refers to you as the victim’s spouse or as a beneficiary).

  • If you or your loved one are a Mexican national and live in Mexico, you will need to provide us with the contact information for your medical provider in Mexico.

If you did not get hurt physically, but are suffering from trauma, you will need to show you have received ongoing licensed mental health treatment, with multiple sessions, before October 15, 2019. Payment Methods

The preferred method for transferring the donated funds is through Zellepay.com or the Zelle app, but other methods of payment will be available. After you download the Zelle app, make sure you use the phone number or email that you use with your bank account, since that will be the only information you need to set up Zelle.

For Mexican nationals without U.S. bank accounts, One Fund El Paso will use Transferwise.com to transfer funds. You will need a Mexican bank account and the same email address you use on your application. You will be emailed a secure link for entering your bank account information so the money can be transferred to your account.

In Juarez, free psychological counseling is available at 24 centers across the city for Mexican victims and families.
