TRLA’s vision is that all Texans, regardless of economic status, will have access to justice.
TRLA provides direct legal services to some of the most vulnerable and at-risk members of our communities, including survivors of domestic violence, the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, veterans, and countless others—those who cannot afford legal assistance, even in desperate circumstances. All of our clients live in poverty, with a majority living near or below the federal poverty level. Since 1970, TRLA attorneys have worked tirelessly in service of our mission: to promote the dignity, self-sufficiency, safety, and stability of low-income Texans by providing high quality civil legal assistance and related educational services.
In addition to the 23,000 cases TRLA attorneys take on each year, TRLA has organized legal assistance for Hurricane Harvey survivors along the Texas Gulf Coast – including Corpus Christi, Rockport, and Port Aransas. Thousands of survivors are still struggling to overcome the disaster.
