    The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is the state government agency charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers of Texas. For employers, TWC offers recruiting, retention, training and retraining, and outplacement services as well as valuable information on labor law and labor market statistics.

    For job seekers, TWC offers career development information, job search resources, training programs, and, as appropriate, unemployment benefits. While targeted populations receive intensive assistance to overcome barriers to employment all Texans can benefit from the services offered by TWC and our network of workforce partners.

    Dislocated Workers' Program
    WIA offers unique programs for persons who have lost their jobs in mass layoffs or plant closings, or who have been laid off and are unlikely to return to their jobs. The regular Dislocated Worker program under WIA offers employment and training programs for eligible workers who are unemployed due to no fault of their own or have received official notice of a layoff. This program allows for individualized re-employment services.

    TWC - Trade Adjustment Assistance
    The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program provides reemployment services which may include training and job search/relocation assistance to individuals who lose their manufacturing jobs due to foreign imports or a shift in production to foreign countries with which the U.S. has a free trade agreement. Participants in this program may also receive Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA), paid on a weekly basis to individuals who exhaust their unemployment benefits while receiving training.
