Applicants from Hidalgo County (as well as Starr, Jim Hogg, and Brooks Counties) who have looming deadlines or other "emergency" legal problems can call the Edinburg TRLA office by phone (1-800-369-0437) or come to the office (located 2 blocks South of the Courthouse in Edinburg) during regular office hours, Monday thru Friday, and have their problem evaluated by the staff attorney or paralegal who is "On-Call" for that day.
The "On-Call" duty at the Edinburg TRLA office rotates among various attorney and paralegal staff members on a monthly basis, to be sure that someone is always available to handle emergency matters that may arise. The EDG office receptionist or secretarial staff will direct incoming emergency calls to the appropriate staff member. The On-Call staff will determine if there is an urgency about the problem which would require that an intake be done outside of the regular office intake schedule.
