The Guardianship team serves the needs of persons with special vulnerabilities: adults with disabilities that may challenge their ability to meet their needs; children who do not have available parents or guardians to make decisions for them. Our objective is to ensure that these populations are able to meet their essential needs using the least intrusive and restrictive alternative to infringing on civil rights.

The Guardianship team handles the following type of cases: guardianship of an adult, guardianship alternatives such as supported decision making and powers of attorney, psychiatric advance directives, restoration cases, cases to enforce a person under guardianship’s civil rights, and kincare cases.
