Rio Grande Valley Community Justice Program

The mission of the Rio Grande Valley Community Justice Program is to provide impoverished residents of the Rio Grande Valley with access to justice by matching those in need of legal assistance with volunteer attorneys who have agreed to represent them without charge.

Jointly founded in 1986 by the Hidalgo County Bar Association and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, this Pro Bono Project’s volunteer attorneys have assisted hundreds of low-income families with legal problems over the last fifteen years. As part of the Project’s mentoring program, participating volunteer attorneys will receive a variety of free training seminars and ongoing support to ensure that the volunteer has a successful and rewarding experience.

For more information on how you can volunteer to assist low-income residents in Hidalgo and Starr Counties, please contact Martha Hernandez, Pro Bono Project Coordinator, at mhernandez@trla.org or (956) 383-5323.
