Thank you for completing the online family law screening form with TRLA. You may be eligible for our services. In order to complete the application process, you will need to speak with an intake worker at TRLA at 1-888-988-9996. You may have trouble getting through our phone lines, but you can call as often as you wish. Because of the number of people calling us, getting through to an intake worker often takes many phone calls over several hours.
In the meantime, you should consider contacting a local family violence shelter. Your local shelter will have information about how to protect yourself if you have to go to court. Some shelters can help you apply for legal aid. All shelters will have information about other resources that could help you in your situation.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or TTY 1-800-787-3224 has information about your rights, access to a local shelter, and other resources available in your local area. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
You also may wish to go to TexasLawHelp.org which provides a host of free services, forms and information including an online computer chat service 9am-5pm (CST) M-F. You also may want to call the State Bar of Texas Lawyer Referral Service at (800) 252-9690.
Warning: Computer use can be monitored. If you are afraid your internet or computer usage might be monitored, please use a safer computer, or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1−800−799−7233 or TTY 1−800−787−3224.
