At TRLA, we offer a range of opportunities for undergraduate and law students across our service area. Dive into real-world legal work with options for a semester, internship, externship, co-op, or summer placement. Here's what you need to know:
What does an internship or clerkship with TRLA look like?
Tasks will vary based on practice area and the kinds of cases we are working on when you are here. Generally, you can expect:
Research and writing
Client contact
Document prep (pleadings, discovery, transactional docs)
Community engagement (education, outreach, partnership meetings)

In addition to working closely with your supervisors, clerks can connect with another TRLA advocate for guidance and support.
We will try to match you with lawyers who can talk to you about legal-adjacent issues you are interested in. Things like:

Summer Lunch Series:
Have (a virtual) lunch with us on Fridays! Clerks will hear from different TRLA lawyer or two each week during a casual and candid lunchtime video conference.
Great way to learn more about the breadth of opportunities within our organization and get to know other clerks.

What are we looking for? Preferably:
Spanish fluency (preferred for some placements, particularly in border areas or with our Immigration Team).
Interest in rural or border placement
Commitment to public interest
