On July 24, Hurricane Dolly struck the Texas coast leaving thousands of people without electricity, potable water, and in some cases without a home. When a disaster such as this one happens, victims turn to TRLA to access the legal remedies necessary to rebuild their lives.

On July 24, Hurricane Dolly struck the Texas coast leaving thousands of people without electricity, potable water, and in some cases without a home. When a disaster such as this one happens, victims turn to TRLA to access the legal remedies necessary to rebuild their lives.

The most common legal needs that natural disaster survivors encounter are:

• Accessing FEMA, social security, disability, or veterans benefits
• Mediating problems with insurance companies and building contractors
• Resolving landlord-tenant problems and/or applying for public housing
• Replacing lost documents such as wills, bank records, or personal identification

We anticipate that requests in the coming weeks and months will relate to the above-mentioned issues, as well as difficult and protracted issues of price gouging, predatory lending, job losses and many more.
