Kate and Ty Fain were long-time friends and supporters of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. As founder of the Rio Grande Institute, a non-profit committed to the economic development and ecological and historic preservation along the Rio Grande, Ty was very conscious of the need to be vigilant about the rights of those living along the Rio Grande. Kate worked in countless campaigns to level the playing field for low-income and working people. Long-time residents of Marathon, together they fought many battles to expand the rights of Texans to determine their own destiny through the ballot box, the courts, and through organized action.
A fund has been established in their memory to support the work of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in protecting the rights of Border residents and providing them with access to justice. To contribute, please go to the following link:
