Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) and Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS), announce a change in intake procedures. Effective October 1, TRLA and VLS will no longer host the evening legal clinic on Mondays at Martin Middle School (1601 Haskell Street).
TRLA and VLS are committed to ensuring that the community continues to have access to civil legal services and offer the following information to assist you.
To apply for legal assistance through TRLA, applicants can call the following:
Telephone Access to Justice: (888) 988-9996
M-Th 8:30am to 7:30pm – Fri 8:30am to 5:30pm
All civil legal problems.
Disaster Legal Assistance hotline: (866) 757-1570
M-Fri 9am to 5pm

Veteran Advocacy Project: (512) 374-2753

TRLA’s Austin branch office also provides limited Emergency Intake. Applicants with emergency matters can call (512) 374-2700 between 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for possible scheduling of an emergency phone intake. Applicants should not come to the office because intakes are generally handled over the phone. An emergency is defined as someone who has a legal deadline that is in the next three business days.
TRLA’s Austin branch office does not provide walk in intake. Walk-In applicants who meet our office priorities for intake will be scheduled for a phone intake. Applicants should call (512) 374-2700 between 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for possible scheduling of a phone intake.
If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please do not hesitate to contact Nancy Nusser, TRLA Communications Director, at (512) 374-2764.
