Austin: Legal Advice and Intake Clinics for Low Income Individuals

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) and Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS), announce a change in intake procedures. Effective October 1, TRLA and VLS will no longer host the evening legal clinic on Mondays at Martin Middle School (1601 Haskell Street).

TRLA and VLS are committed to ensuring that the community continues to have access to civil legal services and offer the following information to assist you.

To apply for legal assistance through TRLA, applicants can call the following:

    M-Th 8:30am to 7:30pm – Fri 8:30am to 5:30pm
    All civil legal problems.

  • Disaster Legal Assistance hotline: (866) 757-1570
    M-Fri 9am to 5pm
    Low income persons affected by disaster declarations.

  • Foster Youth Hotline: (877) 313-3688
    M-Fri 9am to 5pm
    Legal assistance for current and former foster youth.

  • Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault: (800) 991-5153
    M-Fri 9am to 5pm
    Holistic legal services for survivors of sexual assault.

  • Veteran Advocacy Project: (512) 374-2753
    M-Fri 9am to 5pm
    Legal services for low income veterans and their spouses and dependents.

TRLA also offers limited emergency intake to walk-in applicants at the offices located at 4920 N. IH-35, Austin, Texas, from 8am to 5pm. If a same day appointment is not available, the individual will be scheduled for a telephone intake appointment.
